"I just want to say how great it is working with CreditRepair.com and how much hope you guys have given me. You have made great strides in just a few short months and I am sure to reach my goal before this year is over. Whenever I call, and I call a lot, you are never too busy to talk to me and I knew from the very first interview that you truly care about your customers. With all my heart I am truly grateful."

The Veracity site advertises that they're accredited by the Better Business Bureau. That may have been true in the past, but at the time of our review, this credit repair service was not accredited and actually had an "F" grade. Why? Company owners Daryl F. and Wendy M. Yurek were found guilty of tax evasion and bankruptcy fraud in 2017 and sentenced to serve time in jail.
"I recently started working with CreditRepair.com and I am already SO happy that I did! They are working hard and have already made a positive impact on my credit report. They helped remove negative items from my credit report that shouldn't have been there. This directly caused an increase in my credit score! I called their customer support line the other day and they were easy to talk to, the guy was VERY friendly and easy to understand, and in a country full of terrible customer service, CreditRepair.com's customer service definitely gets an A+! The price they ask for their services is more than fair. I am very pleased with the service that I have received so far from CreditRepair.com and I will definitely recommend them to my friends. "
If you pay a charge-off in full, your credit report will be updated to show the account balance is $0 and the account is paid. The charge-off status will continue to be reported for seven years from the date of charge off. Another option is to settle charge-offs for less than the original balance if the creditor agrees to accept a settlement and cancel the rest of the debt.
The credit bureau usually has 30 days after receiving your dispute to investigate and verify information. Typically, the credit bureau will reach out to the company that provided the information and ask them to investigate. The credit bureau is required to send you the results of the investigation within five business days of the completion of the investigation.
"When I called CreditRepair.com my credit was really bad from being young and not knowing the value of good credit and paying bills on-time. I started to research how to fix it and came across their website so I decided to call. My credit score when I called was a 513 and is now in the 650 range. They have gotten 32 out of 40 negative items removed and I couldn’t be happier. Hopefully when the last 8 are removed it will be over 720! That’s my goal!"
A dependable credit repair company, Credit-Aid claims its software can raise credit scores by up to 250 points, backing this promise with a 100% money-back guarantee. Customers get access to great features such as free credit reports, identity theft rescue tools, a financial diary, and other helpful tech. All this can be yours for a one-time payment.
"I like that some things are coming off but I don't like the fact that sometimes only one negative item is being challenged at a time. I also don't like that some of the things that are being disputed are not showing as being challenged and show as pending and the rep can't explain why or fix it. I will do this only for a few more months and see if anything changes. I have several family and friends waiting for my feedback before using this service so we will see how it goes."

When considering the fees, it’s important to weigh what you’re getting in return. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), credit repair firms can’t legally do anything for you that you can’t do for yourself. You just have to be willing to spend the time reviewing your credit reports for negative or inaccurate information, reaching out to the credit bureaus to dispute that information, and following up on those disputes to make sure they’re being investigated.

Many people don’t have the time to do their own credit repair or don’t understand how to make their case. So they look into hiring a credit repair company to dispute errors for them. These companies can charge a fee for their legwork—more on how that works below. There are times when the extra help is valuable. For example, if you have multiple errors across credit reports or you’ve been the victim of identity theft.

The Credit Repair Organizations Act, or CROA, makes it illegal for credit repair companies to lie about their services and results, and sets some additional rules. If you think you might be the victim of a credit repair scam, or if you’ve had other issues with a credit repair company, you can submit a complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

When shopping around for the perfect credit repair company, start with the basics: fees and reputation. As in any market, the price of credit repair services will vary by company and features. Checking the company’s reputation with the BBB and industry associations is a good way to determine their legitimacy, and ensure you’re not about to throw your money away.
